Saturday 29 March 2014

PANAJI: The anti-corruption branch (ACB) of vigilance department has registered a first information report (FIR) against officials of department of information technology (DIT) and Infotech Corporation of Goa (ITG) for not following proper procedure while purchasing material for phase one and two of broadband project.

ACB officials said the state government has appointed ITG to build broadband network across the state.

A ACB officer said that during the first phase of broadband connectivity (GAP-I) work, ITG and DIT officials, without following proper procedure, placed the order to supply materials to Nupur technologies pvt ltd and PCS technology ltd, when they were not on the empanelled list of vendors of ITG. DIT has taken a decision that the material should be ordered from empanelled vendors. The purchase order for first phase of broadband was worth 6.3 crore.

ACB officials said that order was placed without carrying out the required codal formalities resulting in pecuniary advantage to Nupur technologies pvt ltd and PCS technology Ltd.

During the second phase of the project (GAP-II) work, ACB officials said officials of DIT and ITG tendered GAP-II project valued at around 76 crore. ACB officials said that during the tendering process department did not follow the procedure, and benefited the Nupur technologies pvt ltd, who became eligible for the GAP-II project. tnn
