We have also verified this independently, as we ourselves wanted to purchase the unit, but were unable to buy the phone. In fact, to access the demand for the phone, FlipKart and Xiaomi had set up a pre registration process for the phone. It clearly appears this has not worked.
Sources have told IndiaToday.in that Xiaomi has brought limited units of the Mi3 to India. The number has varied a lot but there are fewer than 10,000 units.
While both Xiaomi and FlipKart managed to build up hype for the Mi3 with astonishing pricing, its haphazard launch will tarnish the gleam of the device, which we have found to be very impressive in our tests.
