Saturday, 21 March 2015

Yashtel, a telecom internet service provider in India, has selected Cisco DOCSIS-based Remote PHY technology to deliver high-speed data, voice and video services. With this, Yashtel becomes first company in India to deploy the Remote PHY technology.
The technology is expected to enable Yashtel to offer Internet speeds of up to 400 Mbps using standard interoperable DOCSIS 3.0 modems.

Yashtel can now allow its customers to access broadband, make voice calls via the Internet and watch videos through one connection. Remote PHY technology allows the cable operator to move towards a completely digitized fiber network with deep fiber architecture.
The Cisco Remote-PHY solution provides a digital fiber-based DOCSIS solution that uses Ethernet passive optical networks (EPON), Gigabit passive optical networks (GPON), or Metro Ethernet as the distribution network between the Cisco Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) and the cable modem. Both the PON(or Ethernet) and DOCSIS are used in the same network.
“Yashtel is in a crucial yet exciting phase right now as we are expanding our offerings to cities other than Mysore and we were looking for a technology partner who understood our requirements completely. Cisco was our obvious choice as their Remote-PHY technology is the best in the industry and supports all our existing DOCSIS deployments," said KM Manjunath, Director, Yashtel.
